You Do What You Believe

How important is it for us to put our knowledge of the Bible into practice?

I think it's extremely important that when you read something you do put it into practice. I had a hermeneutics professor that said one time, "You do what you believe and you believe what you do." So, all knowledge eventually comes out in terms of: I am applying this to my life. Now, having said that, the Old Testament word in the Bible for "know" was "yada," which meant not just intellectual capacity, but it was "to encounter" or "to experience." So, to know God meant that you were encountering him, you were experiencing him, which goes far beyond just what's going on in your brain but goes to an entire lifestyle.
