John Owen

John Owen John Owen (1616-1683), is unquestionably one of the greatest Puritan divines. Owen was actively involved in political affairs, and during the Protectorate was at the head of Oxford University. He was appointed dean of Christ Church in 1651 and Vice Chancellor of the University in 1652. In 1653 he was awarded the D.D. by Oxford.
