When we think of the Great Commission, we must remember that it implies proclamation and demonstration of the gospel. It isn't enough to think it is merely verbal communication; you must also demonstrate the truth of the gospel and the love of the gospel. This is like John Stott once said, it's the two wings of a bird. With one wing the bird cannot fly; it needs both to take flight. The same thing is true for us. To have successful and effective communication of the gospel, we have to use both elements, reaching each person this way. When we suppress one part simply for the good of having more people listening to the gospel, we are removing an essential element, which God himself used to communicate love and compassion for his people. So, once again, I say that the proclamation and demonstration of the gospel must go hand in hand when we think of the Great Commission.
