Death, Sleep, or God's Presence - 2 Kings 14:29

Question

Are death and sleep the same? (2 Kings 14:29). Do we sleep at death or are we in God's presence (2 Cor. 5:8; Phil. 1:23; Rev. 6:9).

Answer

2 Kings 14:29 (KJV) And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zachariah his son reigned in his stead.

2 Kings 14:29 (NIV) Jeroboam rested with his ancestors, the kings of Israel. And Zechariah his son succeeded him as king.
